You’d have thought that if there was any beverage that promoted “risky sex” it would be something vaguely alcoholic, right?
Maybe spirits? Or beer? Bacardi breezer?
Well, apparently not. According to the wise folk at Middlebury College in Vermont, the beverages that are going to promote “risky sexual behaviour” are energy drinks.
They see the problem as so serious, that from the 7th March, they’ll be banning the sale or use of them on campus.
Dan Detora, executive director of dining hall services, said that he saw it as the equivalent of banning cigarettes, but studentArnav Adhikari – who works at the college cafe – told NBC:
“There are more important things for them to address. And what do energy drinks have to do with sexual activity?”
Well, Arnav, according to a 2014 study, people who drink energy drinks are more likely to engage in “risky”sex, and those who mix them with booze are more likely to have casual sex.
So – erm – there you go…
Do you think this ban is a good idea? Or do you think it might be a bit silly? Let us know in the comments!
